This Storm Blew Some Robot Minds!

AFOLs gathered once again this month for the BrisBricks social meet-up night; this time with one thing on their minds: robotics using LEGO® Mindstorms EV3.

This workshop took club members through through the programming and hardware of the EV3 so they’re able to create their own robots and custom interactions. This workshop assumed absolutely no prior knowledge at all, not even any programming experience.
IMG_4990The presenter (and enthusiastic club member), Damien, has been teaching LEGO® robotics for over 15 years and has been displaying at the BrisBricks Chandler Expo for the last few. You may have seen some of his creations such as the Sumo Robots, Game of Simon, Spirograph and others.

The Mindstorms workshop was jam packed with interactive learning about the various sensors, motors and control aspects of of the Mindstorms EV3 robotics kit. By the end of the night, the young Padawan robotic engineers had programmed a robot that roamed around avoiding running into walls or falling off tables, talked and had a motorised grabbing claw. Brilliant!
