Saturday 23 March BrisBricks had two public displays, both in Brisbane’s north. This was a great opportunity to raise awareness about our upcoming Morayfield – LEGO Fan Expo.
Everything is still awesome
At Event Cinemas at North Lakes, a group of club members had a display centered around the LEGO Movie 2, following the 21 March premiere of the movie in Australia.
There were many visitors – in particular coming to see the LEGO Movie 2, and the display was popular while they waited for the movie to start.
The display included Cloud Cuckoo land models from the original movie (most kids had watched it many, many times).
A centerpiece was a large model of Apocalypseburg from the opening scenes of the LEGO Movie 2. It was build around the “Welcome to Apocalypseburg” set with the Statue of Liberty adding similar scenery and Batman’s fortress in the back.
Finally, there were scenes from later in the movie, including one based on original classic space.
A big thank you to Russell, Dennis, Tina, Cade, Johnny and Magnus for putting together the displays and man it for the day.
Emergency services
Further North, at Donnybrook, the Wright family was displaying a table of LEGO models of emergency vehicles at the “Get Ready Community Day” at the Community Hall.
It was hugely popular, both with the visitors, but also all the emergency services personnel attending, who loved seeing the vehicles they used in LEGO format.
A big thank you to Lachlan in particular for all the amazing models, but also to Natalie for assisting with the display on the day.
